My Favorite Things + My Big News!

March 20, 2013 by Katie

First and foremost, HAPPY FIRST DAY OF SPRING! Workout Busted out my crazy new shoes and ran 6mi/54:08.78? I accidentally deleted all of the GPS data instead of looking at what my run was, but I believe this is what the numbers were when I last checked. If I’m right, I ran a pace of…

Tasty Tuesday: Easy Mostaccioli

March 19, 2013 by Katie

Well hello there! Once again, I’m putting off a workout to do anything else. Laziness-1. Katie-0. Okay, I haven’t been completely lazy this morning. I’ve cleaned, started my Southwest Chicken Barley Soup in the Crockpot for dinner tonight, and have even picked the workout I’ll do–my Full Body Circuit. I guess it’s time I finally get to…

The Burnt, Obnoxious, and Green

March 18, 2013 by Katie

Top o’ the mornin’ to ya! How was your St. Patty’s Day?! Mine was spent like a true Irish gal… …getting burnt. Matt and I met up with some people for some beach volleyball. It was a bit chilly, though, with the sun only coming out when we were leaving. Oh well. Can’t complain when we’re…

Chocolate Chips Made Healthier

For a healthier take on the classic chocolate chip cookies, try this recipe that uses whole wheat and oat flours instead of white four and Greek yogurt in place of part of the butter. If you follow me on Twitter, then you know there was an earthquake around here yesterday. Apparently there was an earthquake in…

An Elliptical Workout That Doesn’t Suck

March 11, 2013 by Katie

Do you ever workout twice in a day? I rarely do, but when I do it’s usually awesome. Probably has something to do with the fact that if I’m working out again, it’s because I really want to. Gotta love workouts when you’re actually motivated! On Friday early evening, Matt went to boxing class which…

The Importance of Fitness When Dealing with Cancer

March 8, 2013 by Katie

Don’t you just love when you go for a run and get back right before the weather gets all cray cray? That just happened to me. It’s super windy and rainy now. It was partly cloudy with a breeze earlier. Win! Workout Yesterday: I did my Toned Arms & Shoulders workout plus this following abs…

My Favorite Things

Today’s Run: 6 miles in 52:00.38—aka an 8:40 pace. Hollaaaaaaaaaaa. Apparently if you eat a bunch of crap and then do a fast-ish run in the heat, you don’t feel so great. I was having flashbacks to one of my worst runs ever. Therefore, instead of my planned 8 miles, I did 6. I’m okay with it…

Balancing a Running and Weight Lifting Schedule

March 1, 2013 by Katie

I was planning to run 6 miles today but ended up only doing 4 (at an 8:30 pace…woo!) because it’s in the friggin 80s today. I was hot and cranky. Afterwards, I completed the following circuit 3 times through, focusing on working my arms and shoulders. Not going to lie – before I made this workout,…
