For a creamy and fruity smoothie, combine ingredients like fresh orange slices, mango, carrots, and ginger.
Most of my smoothies look pretty similar—usually some sort of variation of my Berry Spinach Smoothie or Protein Spinach Smoothie. It’s nice to change things up once in awhile, though, using ingredients I may not always have on hand or think to put into a smoothie.
Mango is a smoothie ingredient that I’ve used a few times in the past (i.e., Mango Matcha Smoothie), and it creates a wonderfully creamy base. I stocked up on some specifically to make this smoothie combo I dreamt up a few months ago and finally just made.
It’s actually inspired by a juice recipe I make once in a great while. But since smoothies are just easier to make, in my opinion, I wanted to see how it would work, all pulp included. The main ingredients are mango, orange slices, fresh ginger, and carrot.
Aside from spinach, I rarely add veggies to my smoothies, just because I don’t want them to take away from the fruity flavor. But if you do it right, you can’t even tell! And they often have their own sweetness or great texture to add.
The first time I made this, it had so much fruit, that it seemed like more of a puree. So I subbed some of the fruit for some ice to help lighten it up and make it extra refreshing.
This also works really well as a popsicle recipe, if you’d rather enjoy it later! Just make the smoothie as indicated (you can omit the ice if you want), and pour it into popsicle molds. Mmm.
Now that spring is in full swing, I’m getting back into smoothies and adding ingredients that are coming into season. Hope you enjoy this thick and vibrant orange smoothie!
