It’s fun to see yearly milestones get into the bigger numbers—work anniversaries, relationships, birthdays (just me?), and so on. It shows how far you’ve come and allows you to reflect on how you’ve grown. Plus, who doesn’t like another reason to celebrate?!
In a couple days, I’ll be reaching the 8-year mark of blogging, and it’s pretty crazy to think about. Suddenly 10 years isn’t that far away, and that’s about a third of my life. So I guess you could say managing a blog has been a notable theme of my 20s and 30s.
As I mentioned on my 7-year blogging anniversary, I’ve become more relaxed about my blog schedule, and even more so now, it’s something I do more for myself than anyone else. I like posting my favorite recipes that I want to remember, while recommending them to friends and family. I also like organizing my thoughts into clear blog posts, hoping any insight or reflections I have might inspire someone else, as well.
All I know is blogging for others (and not prioritizing what I’m passionate about) isn’t nearly as fulfilling and can feel like a burden. So I’m enjoying the more laid back approach to hosting a creative outlet like this. Since decreasing my post schedule to only 3 to 4 posts per month, I’ve found it’s easier to eliminate the noise and focus on what I care about the most. And that has been much more rewarding to me.
Despite the fact that blogging has been sort of put on the back burner in my life, I’m hoping it still offers some inspiration and entertainment for you! I’m not big fan of making it about my personal life anymore, but my monthly favorites posts still offer a glimpse inside what I’m up to these days.
Just as I like to look back at old posts, it’ll be interesting to see where this blog goes in the coming months and years. It’s nice to have different seasons of life documented in one way or another—even if it’s a lot of food and recipes, because they can also bring up memories.
As I’ve done in previous anniversary posts, I’ve pulled up my top recipes and general posts from the past year. They’re the ones people visited the most, and so I wanted to highlight them one more time before I start on year 9!
