Produce in Season During the Summer

June 29, 2018 by Katie

I’m more of a spring or fall girl, but there’s just something so sweet about summer. And when I say sweet, I’m referring to the plethora of fruit varieties, of course.

I’ve been sharing a seasonal produce guide with the start of each new season for the past year, and summer is the finale to my series. You’ve probably already noticed berries going on sale at your local grocery store, but there are so many more fruits and vegetables that are at or near the peak of their season!

Pretty sure I eat much healthier during the summer simply because so much fresh goodness is everywhere. (If I could live off strawberries, cantaloupe, corn on the cob, and watermelon, I would.)

Life Hack: if you’re doing a bunch of food prep, and it won’t all fit in the containers, just keep snacking on it until it does. 🤣 #ProblemSolved #MondayNightFoodPrep #SoMuchWatermelon 🍉🍉🍉

Among the many dishes you can make with all the produce in season right now, some of my favorites are my Cowboy Caviar, Cantaloupe Breakfast Bowl, Berry & Walnut Chicken Salad with Poppy Seed Dressing, Mediterranean Chicken and Veggie Kabobs, and Acai Bowl recipes. The possibilities are endless though.

Take a look at some of the many fruits and veggies that thrive during the summer.

Produce in Season During the Summer

This list was created based on information from the U.S. Department of Agriculture for June, July, and August.

The next time you go to the store, try to branch out from the norm and buy something you don’t usually get. It’s fun to experiment with new produce items! You might just find you’ve been missing out and actually love something you’ve never had before.

What are fruits or veggies you always stock up on during the summer?
