6-Year Blogging Anniversary

August 10, 2018 by Katie

Six years, 885 posts, and thousands of hours later, Gettin’ My Healthy On is still alive and well!

Today marks my sixth year of blogging, and it still shocks me sometimes that the blog I was imagining while being bored at an internship post college would somehow turn into several years of writing about my passionโ€”and becoming a passion project in and of itself.

It hasn’t been easy, but it’s been one of the most rewarding projects I’ve ever embarked on. While some days it’s the last thing I want to think about, other days I’m overwhelmed with inspiration and can’t stop planning future post topics.

Although I may not be as fired up as I used to be about growing, monetizing, and perfecting this blog, it makes me happy to simply maintain this space. As Gettin’ My Healthy On has turned more into the website I envisioned it to be, I have the same general goal that I had back in 2012: post a few times per week about interesting and fun healthy living topics.

There’s been a significant shift, though. It’s become less about “what are hot topics that will get people to read?” and much more about “what inspires me and might motivate others?”

I used to be worried about getting this blog to “take off,” but as life has gotten busier and my priorities have changed, I’ve found that being much more relaxed about it all…and simply blogging for what I truly care about…feeds my soul in a unique wayโ€”and I think that’s ultimately what counts when it comes to passion projects. ๐Ÿ™‚

So! With all of that in mind, I went through my analytics to see which posts piqued people’s interests the most over the past year. To keep with tradition, I’m sharing the top five general posts and the top five recipes that were posted in year six.

Top Posts

  1. 6 Workout Challenges to Try This Year
  2. DIY Snack Boxes
  3. What Is Intuitive Eating?
  4. Meal Planning Hack: Making a Master List of Go-To Dinners
  5. 8 Daily Acts to Stop Living for the Weekend

Top Recipes

  1. Refreshing Green Smoothie with Apple, Celery, and Spinach
  2. Mango Matcha Smoothie
  3. Blueberry Oatmeal Smoothie
  4. Buffalo Chicken Lettuce Wraps
  5. Sangria Popsicles

Apparently smoothies are a big hit? And yessss to sangria.

I was surprised to see some of these made the top five, but so many of these posts are actually the ones I felt especially proud of when I posted them. So that’s particularly exciting! Plus, it’s fun to see which subjects you all care about.

Is there a project you’ve undertaken that you feel really proud of?

What are your favorite topics to read about on this or other blogs?
