It’s been a whirlwind of a month—not even sure what all happened. But! Next month is when spring begins so COME AT ME, MARCH.
Before winter comes to an end, though, I want to focus on all the little things this past month brought me. From discovering new things to revisiting old things, these are a few of my favorite things!
February Favorites
Heart Box with Pizza Rolls – First things first, Valentine’s Day! We did absolutely nothing for the holiday because neither of us care about it much, but I was overly excited to create this punny heart box filled with pizza rolls for Matt. I’m romantic AF, you guys. (I also wrote punny messages on a bundle of bananas if you want to check out my IG post of it. I was very proud of myself.)
Massive Bag of Chopped Romaine – Speaking of romance, I recently fell in love with romaine lettuce. I discovered this 2-POUNG BAG at the store, and it just makes my dreams of excess come true. CRISP SALADS E’RYDAY. Plus, it would be an easy addition to my upcoming green smoothies.
The Kitchen – I don’t keep up with many shows these days (unless you count binge-watching Netflix), but this is one I really love. It’s on the Food Network and is basically a talk show revolving around food and cooking. A lot of cooking shows are extremely cheesy, so I appreciate anytime they feel “normal” and aren’t fluffed up with scripted stories.
Online Help Chats – This is a weird thing to love, but as an introvert who absolutely HATES making phone calls, I’ve found online chats to be the absolute best for my life issues. From my blog’s hosting company to car repair shops to department stores, I’ve found them to be extremely helpful and easy (though the wait time can be annoying)—totally worth it.
What the Forecast App – I already have some sort of weather app on my phone, but after getting a bunch of ridiculous screenshots of this app from Matt, I had to download it myself. I don’t know where the developer comes up with this stuff, but the messages are hilariously random.
Man of the Woods by Justin Timberlake – I don’t know what’s wrong with me, but I’ve been on such a long Justin Timberlake kick lately. Even after listening to my Justin Timberlake Workout Playlist on repeat, I’m still not sick of him. I’ve actually been enjoying his new album lately, with Morning Light (below) being one of my favorites.
Celery in Smoothies – Celery is all fine and dandy; it’s not my favorite vegetable by any means. As I mentioned in Monday’s post, though, I recently discovered it’s great in smoothies. It reminds me of the green cold-pressed juices I typically gravitate towards, so maybe I’m just used to the flavor. I bought a bunch of celery at the store this past weekend (organic and everything, since celery is often on the dirty dozen list every year), and I can’t wait to try new smoothie combos with it included. (You know you’re abnormally passionate about food when you start raving about celery…)
Yoga with Adrienne – I’m still not at the point of necessarily “enjoying” yoga, probably because I view it as a workout when it seems like more of a wellness thing. Despite this, I’ve been trying to do more mini-sessions at home to encourage myself to stretch more. It seems like such a great self-care practice. I’ve tried a few different instructors who offer free videos on YouTube, and Yoga with Adrienne is my favorite. She’s calming and walks you through the moves really well—but my favorite part, she adds slight sarcasm and random comments throughout, making her seem more down to earth (which I appreciate since it’s hard for me to get into the “om” spirit).
Allrecipes.com – I’ve been using allrecipes.com for years but haven’t visited it for awhile until recently. It’s a database where users can publish their recipes, and others leave reviews and rate them. The rating system makes it such a convenient way to find dishes and know up-front how they’ll probably turn out. If you search on the website and find a recipe you want to try, I highly recommend reading the top reviews to learn if there are any modifications that seem to be a pattern. This is probably my second most used system for finding new recipes (Pinterest being my go-to).
IG Giveaway – I’m running a giveaway with NatureBox on my Instagram account! If you’re interested in winning $50 (+free shipping) towards your first box of snack goodies, make sure to pop over to the post and enter!! (Ends Wednesday, March 21st.)
