Pizza Popcorn Seasoning

August 20, 2018 by Katie

Enjoy the flavors of pizza with this popcorn seasoning blend that includes Parmesan, garlic, oregano, and red pepper flakes.

Pizza Seasoning for Popcorn

We rarely eat popcorn straight up anymore, because it’s fun to play around with different toppings. After I’ve made my usualย coconut oil popcorn, I look through our spice cabinet for inspiration.

I thought of this pizza popcorn idea after trying a homemade pretzel recipe that involved a mixture of Parmesan and pizza-related seasonings. It was delicious, so I figured why not apply it to our favorite nighttime snack? Popcorn!

Pizza Popcorn Seasoning

Obviously this is better if you butter your popcorn first, but it’s not necessary if you’re trying to cut down on saturated fats. If you don’t, though, keep in mind that the seasoning likes to sink down to the bottom of the bowl. But we just toss it around once in awhile to make sure we get a little seasoning in every bite!

My favorite parts of this mixture are the red pepper flakes, garlic, and Parmesan. The others help really get the pizza vibe across, but I am all about the spice of the red pepper, flavor of the garlic powder, and saltiness of the Parmesan. (You really don’t need much salt in this due to the Parmesan, which is why it’s the smallest measurement in this recipe.)

I like to whip up a batch of this blend, sprinkle as much as I want on the amount of popcorn I made, and then save the rest in the fridge for later. It’s an easy way to spruce up otherwise bland popcorn!
