Switching Up the Running Schedule

November 12, 2012 by Katie

First of all… That’s what the thermometer says the temperature is outside. Not cool! The Weekend Over the lovely rainy and windy weekend, I spent time at my sister and bro-in-law’s house because…well…I could. That was basically the reason. I just got back a little bit ago and must get on with my day, even…

Running in the Fall/Winter: 3 Big Concerns

November 9, 2012 by Katie

I’ve been dreading it so much. What happens to my running schedule once it gets freezing and snowy out? It’s actually going to be pretty warm today, but I know the freezing cold is just lurking around fall’s corner. In hopes of calming and preparing my mind, I’ve expressed 3 main concerns I have with…

I Donated My Hair

November 5, 2012 by Katie

I’ve been looking forward to this past weekend for-EV-ER. You don’t even understand. I enjoyed having really long hair, but it was such a pain. My life just became 10,000 times easier. After having 8” cut off to donate, I decided to take it a step further and get some bangs. Not quite sure how…

These Are a Few of My Favorite Things

October 24, 2012 by Katie

Today’s Run: 14 miles/2:13 …AKA, farther than I have ever run before! I think I have found the secret to finishing a super long run: zoning out. Okay, not completely zoning out because that’s just dangerous and stupid. When my mind is clear, I tend to focus way too much on how tired and am. Today,…

Challenge Yourself

October 12, 2012 by Katie

Before I get into the main point of this post, I just want to say that today I return to my alma mater for homecoming festivities. This is my 2nd year out of school and my first time going back. Now that my friends and I have dispersed throughout the state, country, and even world,…

CrossFit, New Running Shoes, and an Elliptical Workout

September 9, 2012 by Katie

I’m such a creep. I absolutely love watching people working out on TV. Last year’s CrossFit Games are on today, and I’m hooked. It’s so amazing how strong some people are. Talk about inspiration! If you’re not familiar with CrossFit, it’s a fitness program that is based on an extremely broad variety of strength and…

HIIT Explained (& Provided!)

September 4, 2012 by Katie

I try to include High Intensity Interval Training into my weekly workouts at least a few times. It’s one of the most effective and efficient ways to exercise. Instead of always doing steady-state cardio, try some HIIT. It keeps your body guessing and is a great fat-burner. I put together an HIIT treadmill run, did…

August 24, 2012 by Katie

I’ve been busy creating things today! For breakfast I made some cottage cheese pancakes, and soon after, I did an interval treadmill run. I’ve got a horrible picture, recipe, and workout for you! Please try to contain your excitement. This also means I actually have content to add to my Fitness and Recipe pages. Aw…

Overcoming the Mental Struggles of Running

August 22, 2012 by Katie

Today, I did my long run, doing about 9 miles. The last…hmm…5+ miles were quite painful…mentally. I woke up at 5:30 so I could get in the run before the sun and heat could slow me down. Anger and excuses tend to fill my mind when I’m uncomfortable, such as on long runs. So, I…
