Make your own fruity chia seed water by brewing raspberry tea and adding chia seeds for a nutritious and filling beverage.
If you’ve never had chia seed water, this post might weird you out. The first time I ever tried chia seed water was when I received a bottle of Mama Chia Chia Beverage during a blog-related event.
The concept of having seeds suspended in my water was really strange at first, because there are little beads of texture throughout. But the more I’ve tried chia water, the more I like the drink option.
In the past, I’ve made my own flavored chia seed water by pouring a few tablespoons of chia seeds into a water bottle filled to the top, and then adding one of those liquid water enhancers that come in a tiny bottle. I’ve been wanting a more natural way of flavoring my water, though, so I recently tried making tea using a brand I’ve been loving lately: the Celestial Seasonings Zinger line.
The reason I love these teas so much is because they are so flavorful (this isn’t sponsored, FYI). It’s like I’m drinking juice or something because the herbal teas have that much going on. Another way you can flavor chia water would be to add fruit (to infuse the water) or just straight-up fruit juice. I’m on team tea right now, but to each his own.
When you add chia seeds to water, they swell in size and create a thicker consistency. As long as you don’t add too much, though, you won’t end up with a pudding-like consistency. (But if you do want that, try my Cocoa Banana Chia Pudding!)
I like to drink this chia seed tea during the morning when I’m trying to be productive but don’t want to stop to find a snack of sorts. If you need to stay full for hours but won’t have the chance to eat anything, you may find this chia-filled water concoction helps! I mean, do you usually have fiber, antioxidants, and protein in your water?
