Happy 4th of July!!
I’m in my happy place being a lazy bum today with plans of eating BBQ and watching fireworks later. Plus, it’s 10x better because I have a 3-day weekend. Aww yiss. I am, however, planning to take advantage of all the extra time by going for a run, so I’m not being toooo lazy.
I figured I’d dedicate today’s post to a patriotic-y things — aka a sangria recipe that is our country’s colors.
I’ve only made classic red wine sangria before, so I figured it was time to try out a white wine version. I ended up using some frozen blueberries and raspberries, but I feel like fresh would be prettier. However, frozen worked just fine if that’s all you have.
- 1/2 c blueberries
- 1/2 c raspberries
- 1/2 c strawberries, sliced
- 1 white nectarine, diced
- 1/4 c lemon juice
- 1 bottle sweet white wine (moscato, riesling, etc.)
- 12 oz. ginger ale
- Lightly muddle fruit in pitcher. Add lemon juice and wine. Refrigerate for at least 6 hours.
- Before serving mix in ginger ale. Serve!
Instead of adding extra sugar like a lot of sangria recipes call for, I decided to use a sweeter white wine and use a pop like ginger ale or sprite. I mean why not use some Canada Dry. Oh…right.
Hope you all have a safe and amazingly awesome Independence Day!! (Welcome ta erf)
For my fellow Americans, how will you be celebrating the holiday?
Do you say pop? soda? coke? other?
