The Joys of Moving Cross Country: Part 1 of 2

The long journey from Chicago-ish, IL to San Diego, CA has commenced! We left yesterday and will be back on the road soon for quite a long day of driving.

Thankfully, but not-so-thankfully, I am still unable to run because I’m sickly. Therefore, I don’t have to figure out ways to fit in runs during the busy traveling. It has officially been a week since my last run. I’m actually enjoying the little hiatus, but my body will probably be confused and angry when I pick back up in my marathon training HOPEFULLY VERY SOON. This week calls for a 16-mile run. Pray I get better A.S.A.P.!

Without a workout today, I have more time to update you on my life before we get back onto the road for day 2. Since I’m quite limited on internet use for the next few days, I don’t have much time to tell you all the fascinating details of my life that I know you crave. Therefore, I am providing you with a few pictures detailing my experiences so far with moving.

And that is why all my clothes are going to be beyond wrinkly when I start unpacking for realsies. I was not about to fold all that back up.

Just so you are fully aware of my excessive preparedness, here’s what I have brought on the trip:

  • Granola bars (recipe here)
  • Fruit: 8 peeled Clementines, 5 apples, 2 bananas
  • 6 sandwiches
  • Veggies: green pepper, red pepper, celery, carrots, sugar snap peas, and an avocado to add to the sandwiches
  • 2/3 of a loaf of banana bread (recipe here)

My goal is to avoid fast food at all costs. I realize this may be impossible unless I want to eat sandwiches twice a day for 3-4 days, which I am not about to do. I’m doing my best, though.

This is really the only interesting sight we’ve seen so far. I’m looking forward to seeing some armadillos as we get to Texas, though. Besides that, I have no idea what we’ll pass—hopefully lots of cool places! It’s a long drive. We’re bound to see something interesting, right?

That’s all I’ve got for today, Folks. I’ll probably do the second and last part of the moving posts Friday because, like I said before, I don’t have much internet time! So, if you’d like to hear other interesting parts of our journey, check back then! I still plan to check in Wednesday with some favorites though. Just a heads up.

Have a marvelous Monday!
