The long journey from Chicago-ish to San Diego has commenced! We left yesterday and will be back on the road soon for a long day of driving.
Thankfully, but not-so-thankfully, I’m still unable to run because I’m recovering from the flu. So although I miss running, it’s nice not worrying about how to fit in runs during our busy days of travel. It has officially been a week since my last run. I’m actually enjoying the little hiatus, but my body will probably be confused and angry when I pick back up in my marathon training HOPEFULLY VERY SOON. This week calls for a 16-mile run. Pray I get better ASAP!
Without a workout today, I have more time to give an update on my life before we get back onto the road for day 2. Since I’m limited on internet access for the next few days, I don’t have much time to share all the exhilarating details of our road trip. As a result, I figured I’d just share a few pictures from the experience so far with moving.
And that would be the EXCESSIVE amount of snacks I prepared for our journey. This ridiculous pile of food includes:
- Dark chocolate granola bars
- Fruit: 8 peeled clementines, 5 apples, 2 bananas
- 6 sandwiches
- Veggies: green pepper, red pepper, celery, carrots, sugar snap peas, and an avocado to add to the sandwiches
- 2/3rds of a loaf of banana bread
My goal is to avoid fast food as much as possible. I realize I can’t completely, unless I want to eat sandwiches twice a day for 3-4 days, which I am not about to do. Every little bit helps, though.
The St. Louis Arch is really the only interesting sight we’ve seen so far. I don’t even know what we’ll pass on our way, but it’s a long drive, so we’re bound to see something interesting, right?
Aaaand that’s all I’ve got for today. I’ll probably do the second and last part of the moving posts Friday. So, if you’d like to hear more about our journey, check back then!
Have a marvelous Monday!
Do you have any advice for staying entertained during a 10+ hour drive?
Are you running today? / What’s your run look like? Run some miles for me too. K thanks.
