Unplug for a Few Minutes

May 27, 2019 by Katie

Gotta love long holiday weekends. Although they still seem to fly by, they always leave me feeling refreshed as I return to the workweek. Just having a little extra time to relax and…break from routine can be therapeutic.

I find myself feeling this way a lot, especially with social media and blogging. Posting regularly feels rewarding when you see your effort later, but the obligation to do it can feel like an interruption. That’s why I rarely post on my personal social media accounts, and randomly go M.I.A. with my blog’s social pages.

Sometimes it’s just necessary to take a mini hiatus from random responsibilities or self-made obligations (if and when possible). Otherwise you’re just going through the motions and losing your passion for it.

The quote below is one I see a lot, to the point where it can sound clichรฉ. But it perfectly describes my vibe this weekend and a little blogging update I’m sharing.

“Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you.” So in honor of the liberating feeling that tends to come with taking little breaks, I wanted to share that I’ll be blogging a little less often here in this space.

I used to blog as much as 4 times per week, which got cut down to 3, and then for the past couple years I’ve been posting 2-3 times per week. To help me keep my sanity and not rush posts last-minute (though some of my favorite posts resulted from that), I’m going to allow myself a little more leeway in the frequency of my blogging.

For those who regularly check back here for new posts, you can expect them at least once per week, plus my monthly favorites posts. At this point, I’ll probably stick to posting every Monday and Friday, but during some weeks there might only be a Monday or only be a Friday. I’m going to try to follow the inspiration when it strikesโ€”whether that’s at the start of the week or as I’m reflecting at the end of it.

And that’s my little bit of blogging news.

I hope you’re enjoying your long weekend and feel ready to tackle the short week after the much-needed break!
