I say the same things every time I introduce these “favorite” posts, but I really mean it this time when I say…. the last month has FLOWN. BY. I feel like I just shared my August favorites; it’s very confusing.
Due to the fact September lasted approximately 5 days in my mind, I didn’t have as many favorites jotted down to share. However, I’m sharing the more limited list anyways because there are some good ones thrown in.
Happy 3rd day of fall by the way!!! Hope you enjoy this month’s favorites. I tried very hard not to rave about the changing of seasons too much. Plus, my newly established allergies have taken me down a peg…
September Favorites
Pop-Up Bars – Since moving to Chicago, I’ve discovered the concept of pop-up bars. They take over an existing bar, which is completely transformed by the theme. We’ve seen Christmas and St. Patrick’s Day themes, and more recently, we made sure to stop at a Parks & Recreation-themed bar while it was up. So goooooood.
Michaels – I’ve always liked Michaels for my craft needs, but due to their random, big sales, I’ve developed an addiction to going there. I’ve found it to be a great place to stock up on picture frames, and as of late, I’ve been ALL about the seasonal decorations. (I’m so domestic these days, just give me all the fall decorations…which are 60% off….FYI)
Mountain Man by Crash Kings – This is not a new song, but it’s new to me. Caaaan’t get enough of the vibe.
Following TED on Social Media – If you tend to mindlessly scroll through Facebook/Instagram/etc, I highly recommend following accounts like this that are both informational and inspiring. I frequently find myself watching TED talks on Facebook or reading articles simply because they’re in my newsfeed, and the topics pique my interest. It’s refreshing to expand your mind by listening to/reading what researchers (or other experts in their field) have to say about various topics.
New Cookbook – I strive to incorporate more veggies and fish into our diet, so I bought this highly rated Mediterranean diet-themed cookbook to inspire me. I added a whole book of Post-It tabs to mark all the recipes I want to try. I usually just find recipes online to try, but I’m really excited to have this new resource!
Cringe by Matt Maeson – I’ve mostly listened to the album version of this songโnot this stripped versionโbut I’m into it.
Last Section of Bread Baking for Beginners – I’ve talked about this book several times, and that’s because I’ve spent a lot of time this year making bread. My goal was to finish this book by the end of the year, and I just entered the last section, which includes sourdough and other breads made with a pre-ferment. I’m actually in the middle of making some baguettes today!
Dictionary App – No one knows all the words in the English language. (I mean 533 words were just added by Merriam-Webster in September for this round of updates alone.) I’m always trying to expand my vocabulary, if not to use them myself, at least to understand them when someone else says them. I used to get a “Word of the Day” email from Dictionary.com, but emails get annoying so I unsubscribed after too many built up. Now I’m using an app that displays the daily word on my phone.
