My main fitness love for the past five or so years has been running. I cross train by doing circuit workouts about every other day, but my main focus has always been hitting the pavement — that is…until three months ago when I started P90X. I figured I would try something I have never done before: creating fitness goals revolving around weight training.
Well next week is my last week of this P90X experience, and I am proud to say…
Being strong feels so awesome.

If you catch me on a good day, I can do about three chin ups now. Before, I could only do half of one. I didn’t actually realize how much stronger I had gotten until I saw this picture of my back with strange creases I had never seen before on myself.
I’ve always thought muscles were really cool, but seeing them on yourself is the best.
As much as it can suck to mix things up and get out of your normal routine, that’s the best way to find new things you love that you never knew you loved. Weight training is definitely that for me now. Can’t say I’ve loved all the pushups, pull-ups, and other arm-focused exercises constantly, but from here on out, I plan to incorporate way more weight training than I did before. Instead of my usual goal with fitness — aka running faster — I’m hoping to keep moving forward with the weight lifting dealio. It feels amazing to move up a set of weights, do those extra reps, and/or see the difference all your hard work is making.

I’ve learned a lot over the past few months and can’t wait to share my final results in a little over a week!
Is there a specific fitness niche you focus on?
Have you ever done a fitness system like P90X before?

First off, nice wings, girl! You look fabulous! I don’t normally focus on one fitness “niche” (great choice of words, by the way) but right now the focus of my training is obviously running (marathon training). I’m planning on getting back to my body split days after the marathon, though. Yoga is throughout, though I haven’t gotten to the studio much this week!

Good for you! You look great. It’s always fun to mix up your routine a bit and I bet the added strength has helped your running as well.

True! I haven’t run much lately, but I bet it will help.

Looking strong! I have never tried P90X before, it looks intense. Maybe I will check it out sometime.
