Whelp, the time has officially come to bid adieu to blogging in this space.
I started Gettin’ My Healthy On in 2012, and it’s been one of the most inspiring passion projects I’ve ever done. As I near the 10-year mark, though, maintaining a personal blog just isn’t something I care to prioritize anymore. Granted, I’ve been very quiet the past two years, but I hadn’t decided I was ready to close this chapter of my life until recently.
It’s crazy how much I’ve learned over the years just by having this blog โ from technical skills like coding to more creative aspects like graphic design and food photography. While I’ll always appreciate the amazing opportunities I’ve been given and connections I’ve made as a result of blogging, I’m ready to move on to bigger and better things in my life.
First and foremost, we’re expecting a baby girl!
Feels weird to announce a pregnancy in the middle of a farewell blog post, but I mean… they are slightly related. Considering I no longer wanted to commit my time and energy to a healthy living blog before I had a bun in the oven, I feel confident and at peace with the decision to step away from blogging now that I have a new type of due date coming up.
As for what will happen to this blog? I intend to keep it live for at least a year or two. I refer back to my old recipes and workouts all the time, so I don’t want to lose those yet (or cause them to disappear for anyone else who has favorites). In the future, I may consider moving this back to a free WordPress site, so the posts can live on (without requiring me to pay for hosting or deal with technical difficulties, to the last of which I say oy vey).
I plan to post occasionally on GMHO’s Instagram (and possibly also Facebook), so make sure to follow me on those if you want to keep in touch.
And to finish this bittersweet post, I want to send a huge THANK YOU to everyone who has supported Gettin’ My Healthy On over the years. Whether you’re a friend, family member, fellow blogger, generous business, or wonderful stranger, I truly appreciate you caring about my posts and life, as well as helping inspire me to keep working at it for so many years.
It’s been a fun ride, but I’m excited to see what comes next!
