Good morning to you! The coffee has officially kicked in, so I’m feeling bright and cheery so far on this Wednesday.
As I round up my June favorites today, I wanted to revisit a post I shared at the end of May about unplugging for a few minutes. I mentioned I was going to blog less often, and apparently I really took that to heart. It’s become clear to me that my plan to still post multiple times per week is not what I actually want.
In case anyone has noticed it being a bit quieter around here, I just wanted to share I’m only posting once per week now (except for rare occasions if I want to do more). After nearly 7 years of sticking with a strict blogging schedule, it turns out I enjoy a little more free time to do other things.
TL;DRโthis is the only post you get this week, so savor it and all its randomness. ๐
June Favorites
Summer in the City โ It’s only been summer for 5 days, but I’m already getting a taste of the fun the coming months will bring. Looking past the fact it’s reached 76 in our apartment already, I’m excited for all the events that Chicago has going on during the summer! That’s one of my favorite parts of living near a big city: there’s always something to do.
Shedd Aquarium โ This past weekend we made a trip to Shedd Aquarium! We’ve both been there before, but it felt like new because there are so many creatures and exhibits to see. It was definitely the perfect way to spend a dreary morning.
Rewatching TV Series โ Friends and How I Met Your Mother have always been my go-to shows for streaming in the background while I do random things. I’ve been branching out more lately, though, with New Girl and others. After not watching some of those shows for so long, I’ve forgotten how amazing they are! And it’s been long enough that some episodes feel like new (whereas with Friends, there are no surprises…which I’m also okay with).
Bad Guy by Billie Eilish โ So I recently discovered Billie Eilish, and now I’m obsessed. She has such a unique sound I can’t get enough of. I love so much more than just this song, but this was what originally turned me onto her music.
NYX Eyebrow Cake Powder โ I’ve always been weird about my eyebrows. I made them really thin in high school, and I blame that for causing them to be a bit sparse in places now. I’ve tried different products over the years, but this “cake powder” by NYX has been my favorite for filling them in.
That One Time We Did Goat Yoga โ You might already know this, but we did goat yoga this time last year. I had to revisit it as a favorite, because looking through all the photos of us hanging out with goats was hilarious/wonderful. There was minimal yoga involved that day, but I still highly recommend it!
Bug-a-Salt โ Matt randomly bought this for me a year or so ago, but it has never been as useful as it has been lately. Apparently [large] flies like this warmer weather because we keep finding them get into our apartment. This “gun” sends a hard burst of salt when you pull the trigger, and it’s pretty effective if you aim it right. So ridiculous. So useful with high ceilings.
Doin Time Cover by Lana Del Rey โ Shout out to my husband for introducing me to this song. Lana Del Rey? Good. Sublime? Good. Lana Del Rey covering a Sublime song? Gooood.
Almond Pesto โ My basil plant has been overflowing the past few weeks, so I was pumped to make my go-to pesto recipe! I mixed it with some cheese tortellini and turkey kielbasa for an easy meal. Pine nuts are overrated.
What have you been loving over the past month?

Bahaha I’ll let you try it when you visit soon.
