I registered for the Camp Pendleton World Famous Mud Run 10k. Thanks to a Living Social deal for half off this race, Matt and I both signed up for the race June 9th. It’s 6.2 miles of obstacles and mud and marines. Basically, I’m really excited yet so scared. Here’s the video they have on their site if you want to check it out:
I’m really excited to have another race to look forward to but oh man—this looks pretty crazy. Guess that means I need to start running a bit more!
Workout
That means today I’m going to start “training” for the freaktastic event by doing a longer run outside after work. Four miles is the minimum mileage I plan to do—6 would be ideal. I say “training” because I feel the best way to train for the muddy obstacle course is to go roll around in the mud, jump over fences, and crawl under cars.
I’ll pass.
The Weekend
You know how Friday’s post was all about how I’m going to start eating healthy? Well, I think I subconsciously challenged myself to eat worse. I haven’t eaten as badly as I did this past weekend in a long time. The problem was the fact that we were out and about so much, meaning we ate out a lot. Delicious burgers, burritos, pizza, ice cream, and beer were my downfall.
Oh well. Starting fresh on the don’t-eat-so-much-crap thing today!
The out-and-aboutness that happened included burgers on Friday night and a baseball game Saturday to see the Padres vs. the SF Giants.
It was a beautiful day to chill at the ballpark. Plus, we were in a section with a lot of kids, so that was entertaining. I get pretty bored watching sports (because I’d rather just play them). Therefore, people watching kept me busy.
Sunday was the usual productive day we make it, what with groceries and such. Does anyone else feel the need to carry in as much as humanly possible?
I always end up with about 75% of the bags, and Matt takes the last few. It’s a bit ridic, but I guess I inflict the pain upon myself. I just can’t accept taking two trips. That’s all.
Questions for you:
Have you ever done a mud run before? Do you want to?
Are you registered for any races coming up?

Here’s my idea of what I think happened to you this weekend. Because you decided that you were going to eat NO junk food, it makes your body crave it even more. It’s happened to me so many times. Now that I’m okay with eating “junk” sometimes or a treat type of food every day, I crave it less so I don’t go hogwild when I do eat the really unhealthy foods. Getting on track is definitely the easiest way to fix it though. Trying to “make up for it” won’t help! I’d say overall it was a pretty great weekend though. I need to get to a Red Sox game this summer!

Oh, I definitely don’t plan to “make up for it.” Anytime I do that it always backfires. I basically just embraced the weekend and didn’t worry too much about what I was eating. I knew I’d be back into the healthy swing of things by today, so it’s all good. I totally agree with the less you eat junk food, the less you crave it thing. I always notice that. It’s crazy how that works.

Living social coupon for a race? Man I need to start looking there! I would LOVE to get a cheaper race!
I have seen those mud runs before. My husband really wants to do one. I told him I’d do it with him, but he said he didn’t want me to do one. Not really my cup of tea, but I think it would be cool to try.
I do the same thing with my grocery bags. Two trips is not an option in an apartment!

Ya, I’d prefer to do an easier mud race first, but I think I’ll survive…? And I went to see my sister and brother-in-law run a race like this a few years ago, which was actually pretty cool even though I was just watching and taking pictures. Maybe you could be the photographer for your husband during a race and then decide if you want to do one. It gives you an idea of how crazy the race actually is.
