If you’ve never heard of or attended goat yoga before, you’re in for a visual treat. Matt booked two spots at Blissful Goat Yoga in San Marcos as an early birthday present for me yesterday. I mentioned a few months ago how I would love to go to a class like this, so when he proposed the idea a few weeks ago, I was 100% on board.
The class we attended was yoga “light,” so the yoga part of the class was pretty short and simple…but it was definitely not why most of us were there anyways.
Goats are playful little sweet creatures that are ridiculous and wonderful. We were told to wear hoodies (and no jewelry) because they would try to eat our hair and when they jump on your back, it’s nice if there’s extra cushion.
We had a blast, and I would definitely recommend yoga with goats to anyone, because it’s such a unique and fun experience.
The instructor/goat owner was great throughout the class, making sure we were informed and having fun. She split her time between teaching yoga, picking up goat poop from people’s mats (including mine twice), and taking pictures of us randomly.
The best was when the goats would just plop down on our mats and hang out while we were trying to stretch. Matt’s friend Phoenix (above) took a nap for awhile on his matโall of us around him were jealous.
After we did a bit of yoga, we all put our mats next to each other and got on our hands and knees to create a train of backs to entice the goats to climb on.ย The class concluded with a bit of “cuddle time” where we could pick up the goats or just let them snuggle up next to us. It was pretty adorable, as you can imagine.
Overall, I’d say goat yoga was a success! Totally worth the money and a great way to spend your afternoon.
So, now I can say I’ve done regular yoga,ย hot yoga, and goat yogaโI look forward to trying even more variations in the future! (Though I’m not sure if any will be as exciting as goat yoga.)
