Cheesy Bacon & Ham Quiche

January 18, 2016 by Katie

For a flavorful and savory breakfast dish, try this cheesy bacon and ham quiche! By combining ingredients like cheddar, parmesan, bacon, and ham chunks into a pre-made pie crust, you’ve got an easy breakfast that is sure to impress.

Cheesy Ham Bacon Quiche

As of yesterday, I’m able to check off another dish from my to-make list! For awhile now, I’ve been wanting to try making quiche but just have never made the time or effort to. This past weekend, I decided to use my extra free time to make a little brunch for Matt and me in the form of a cheesy quiche filled with ham and bacon. To be honest, I had little hope of this working out because I’ve never made custard before, but the oven worked its magic and got it to set and not be super jiggly. I was quite thrilled with myself.

Quiche Ingredients

The whole concept of making a quiche kind of intimidated me, but it was much easier than I thought.

For step 1: all you need to do is pour ham chunks (we had some frozen from Christmas leftovers) and 4 slices worth of crumbled bacon (we used turkey bacon) into a 9-inch pie crust (I used a generic brand frozen “deep dish” version). Step 2: sprinkle a combo of cheddar and parmesan on top of that. Step 3: pour in a mixture of half n half, milk (I used 2%), eggs, and salt, pepper, and onion powder. And finally, for step 4: bake for about 45 to 50 minutes (or until a knife can be inserted and comes out clean).

How to Make a Quiche

At the 40-minute mark, I was going to test the quiche, but it was quite jiggly. Another 10 minutes did the trick, cooking it perfectly for our taste.

The final outcome actually really surprised me. Not only was it thoroughly cooked, but the flavor was really delicious. I’m thinking it’s in large due to the combination of bacon and the really good ham we had. SO delicious. Can’t wait to eat this for leftovers over the next couple mornings before work!

Quiche is my absolute favorite! I usually keep some frozen pie crusts on hand so I can always whip one up. I like to have it for dinner and then breakfast the next day. So versatile!

Nice! I’m excited to mess around with the flavors now that I know I’m capable of actually making them. Haha
