A Few of My Favorite Things

February 10, 2016 by Katie

Well, it would appear that three miles is my cap. I’ve run this distance on three different occasions over the past two weeks. The first, I stopped because I was trying to be smart and not push it. The second, my IT Band started hurting. And last night, my legs were made of lead. However, I keep getting a teensy bit faster, so that’s cool.

IT Band Syndrome Recovery

I’m running twice a week now, and so far so (pretty much) good! My last physical therapy appointment is tomorrow, though I scheduled one in a month as a follow-up because I’m paranoid. Here’s hoping this IT Band Syndrome stays away as I inflict further pain/discomfort on myself from foam rolling more than I’d prefer.

All I can say is, from all the time, money, and effort I’ve spent to recover from ITBS, I better never stop running. Haha. I can’t believe how much work this has been, but that feeling of consistent improvement is pretty amazing. So I look forward to more of that! And hopefully no more knee craziness. No me gusta.

Keep reading for my latest favorites.

These Are a Few of My Favorite Things

Heinz Commercial – Of all the commercials played during the game on Sunday, this is one of my favorites. So many puppies in hot dog costumes! Bahaha.

Galentine’s – A couple friends and I recently had our 2nd annual Galentine’s event – aka Valentine’s Day but with your women. The theme was inspired by Leslie Knope, and we had a delicious brunch with toaster waffles topped with Nutella, whipped cream, and strawberries, as well as mimosas for days. It’s a fun little thing to do, whether you’re in a relationship or not. I highly recommend adopting the holiday, if you don’t already celebrate it.

Different Favorite Cereal – Solid advice.

Organizing with Trays – It is my life’s mission to not become a hoarding, clutter-collecting individual. I love the concept of trays to help keep items organized, especially things that don’t really have a home. I mentioned this idea of everything having a place in my 10 Ways to Make a House Feel Like a Home post – it makes such a huge difference to have these collect-alls. Check out this Buzzfeed article for some good ideas.

Deep Dish Mixed Berry Skillet Pancake – Whether someone buys that cast iron skillet I registered for, or I buy it myself after our wedding, I will get one. And when I get it, I plan to make recipes like this skillet pancake situation. It’s such a cool concept to me. Plus, the recipe looks quite delicious. (I suppose I could use a baking dish of sorts, but that just doesn’t seem as exciting.)

I like the idea of organizing with trays you can still see everything and not have it fall to the bottom of a bin. I think 3 miles is a great place to be right now. You are still able to run and get a good workout and you will slowly get back there. It’s hard to be patient but being injured is the worst!

Agreed! I’m okay with 3 for now. 🙂
