A Few of My Favorite Things

December 12, 2012 by Katie

So we apparently have a mouse in the house. I woke up to a note on the counter this morning saying not to open the pantry because it’s currently being trapped there until my dad has time to catch it. As much as I worry it’ll find its way out, I’m also happy I got a warning, because the last time we had a mouse, it fell from a shelf high up, and I may or may not have shrieked out of sheer surprise… Ayayay.

Regarding my latest workouts: My 4-mile run went well yesterday, what with the sore hip and all (I feel so old). It actually feels a lot better today after having iced it a lot. Today, I’m going to shoot for running 13 miles but not until about 1pm—my new running hour because that’s when it seems to be the warmest.

Keep reading for my latest list of favorites!

These Are a Few of My Favorite Things

There are so many Christmas things that I’ve been loving, but I’m saving them for one post drenched in holiday spirit. Until then here’s some randomness that I like:

Motivational Quote: You Don’t Have to Go Fast… It helps to tell myself this sometimes. On Monday I definitely didn’t want to go for a run, so I just went and didn’t focus on going super fast. Turned out to be an insane run, what with hail-like weather and all. Definitely didn’t regret it though (ya know, when I was done)!

Dinner Idea: Grilled Pineapple Turkey Burgers. I don’t know how I feel about pineapple on real food (I hate it on pizza), but I’ve heard it’s really good on burgers. ‘Tis quite intriguing!

Breakfast Creation: Eggnog Pancakes. Tina created this gem of a recipe over at her blog Carrots ‘n’ Cake. I don’t even like eggnog, but this sounds sooooo good. They’re even gluten free if you’re into that sort of thing.

Cookie Recipe: Funfetti Cookies. I’ve made funfetti cookies from the boxed cake mix, but I’ve never done it from scratch until Sunday night. I was pleasantly surprised with how they turned out. They were chewy and tasted like cake. Plus, I got to bake with sprinkles. That never happens. (Check out my recipe for Greek Yogurt Funfetti Cookies if you want to make them yourself!)

Funfetti Cookies

Style: Dresses. Sometimes clothes are actually fun to wear. I’ve been seeing a lot of fun dress styles on Pinterest lately, and I’m thinking I should go shopping soon…

Hanukkah Song: Chanukah Song by Adam Sandler. Happy Hanukkah to those celebrating right now! I find this song wonderfully ridiculous. If you haven’t heard it yet this season, you should listen to it.

P.S. Happy 12/12/12/!!!

what a GREAT motivational quote to read. 🙂

My apartment a few months ago had a mouse. I FREAKED out and literally left the appt and went back home to my parents that night until I got the all-clear that it was straightened out!! haha!

Hahaha that’s awesome. It IS tempting to leave. I never think I’ll care much if I see a mouse, but I always end up freaking out when I do.

We have mice at work in the back room. I only saw one once, but it creeps me out! Hopefully you don’t run into the little bugger… I love the Hanukkah Song! Good luck with your run today!

We had mice in our house in Kewanee, and they lived under the oven. If you remember that house it had a very narrow kitchen. When you went in the kitchen (especially if you turned on the oven) they came shooting out and had to run very close (if not over) your feet. Luckily they didn’t live there very long. I made Alex get live traps and he took them to work the next day and let them go (outside of course, and he worked a half hour away).

Haha you’re so nice, Pam. And I freak out if I see 1 mouse, let alone several running together. Eeeeee!

[…] On Wednesday I was shooting for 12 miles, but it turned into 7 horrible miles. I didn’t follow my own advice from a Facebook status on Monday… […]
