Interesting fact: Merriam-Webster recently added 150 new words to the collegiate dictionary.
I’m a word nerd and love to see what’s now considered an actual word because our language can get pretty ridiculous. The Internet, social media, and technology made a huge influence on the new list of words, and I don’t even know what a lot of them mean – guess I’m not up on the cool lingo these days. Among all of the new words, these are probably my favorite:
- Dubstep
- Hashtag
- Poutine
- Selfie
- Turducken
All of these are funny to me because they’re all slightly ridiculous. #maybeimjustcrazy Oh, but turkducken is probably the best. It freaks me out a bit, but you can’t deny that people are…creative. Same goes with tofurkey, Maybe that’ll be added next time?
If you want to see some of the other words that were added, check out this Time article.
Now that I’ve bored you with my strange appreciation for words, make sure to check out my favorites below!
These Are a Few of My Favorite Things
Express Yourself By Labrinth – I’ve been listening to this song a lot lately. It never fails to put me in a good mood.
Honey in yogurt – I’m weird and usually don’t like honey in yogurt. Last week, though, I discovered honey COMPLETELY changes the questionable flavor of plain Greek yogurt. That almost sour taste is completely disguised, and it is actually GOOD. I like to buy the plain yogurt because then I can add it to savory dishes without a vanilla or fruity flavor involved. Having made this discovery will completely change my snacking now. Soooo happy. (P.S. I promise that’s not butter, even though it looks like it.)
Man Blows Whole Train Station Away – So there was apparently a piano that said “play me” at a train station. This dude sat down and played amazingly for 5+ minutes, and everyone just gathers around to watch. It’s wonderful.
Blender Bottles – As I’ve started drinking more protein shakes, I’ve discovered the amazing Blender Bottle contraption. Usually, I just deal with drinking chunky protein shakes because simple shaking it in a normal water bottle or stirring it in a cup does NOT do the job. Ya, it’s just as unpleasant as it sounds. I highly recommend picking up one of these bad boys for like $7 at a store like Target or Walmart. The wire ball in the middle fixes the protein powder texture problem.
The Secret Ingredient – I feel like I’ve shared this before, so if I have, my apologies. I love it too much to not make sure it’s shared though. We put cheese on most everything. Don’t judge us.
iPod Shuffle – I’ve been using the original iPod nano for approximately 8 years? Don’t quote me on that. I don’t know when it came out. But I’ve used it forever. I’ve been wanting a simple Shuffle for about a year now to run with because it’s so compact and easy to clip on shorts or a shirt. Pretty pumped about my fancy green Shuffle now. 🙂
