As of today, there are 19 days left until Christmas! If you’re like me, you still have to get most of your presents for people. When I was trying to think of a creative gift idea recently, I started remembering all the samples boxes I’ve tried in the past—from vitamins to food to makeup. It’s a fun way to discover new items, which is why I thought creating my own health-related box of samples would make for such a good gift!
This DIY healthy samples box can be a great way for you to support a friend wanting to live a healthier lifestyle (or if they already do but love trying new products). I think themed presents are amazing, and they’re so much easier to put together, depending on how big each item is. I personally would love to get a box full of a friend’s favorite health-related products.
To give you some ideas for what all you could put in a box of healthy samples, keep scrolling for my list!
Food
Get creative with nutritious foods or ingredients that your person might enjoy (bonus points if you don’t think they’d buy it for themselves). Some ideas: hemp seeds, chia seeds, coconut oil, quinoa, or flavored almonds.
Workout DVD
I know I’d love to get a yoga DVD or something because for some reason, I can’t get myself to go buy one for myself. You could also do pilates, zumba, or whatever the person seems to be interested in.
Water Bottle
Water bottles can be a fun way to motivate yourself to drink more water, and there are so many different types out there! Whether it’s a filtering bottle, has a fruit-infusing system, includes a built-in straw, or just features a cute design, it’s always nice to have options.
Lotion
This one’s super simple, but it’s always nice to have lotion on hand (bahaha, get it?!). If your person is active, their skin may be dry or chaffed as a result. I know when I’m running a lot of miles, my feet need lots of extra TLC.
Electronics
I’m talking headphones, an interval timer, pedometer, or more comprehensive fitness tracker. Although you probably don’t want to spend a fortune to include a small tech-y gift in a box full of other stuff, there are some affordable options out there that could take your collection of samples to the next level.
Cookbook of Healthy Recipes
Certain diets like paleo are becoming more popular, so that’s always an idea. Otherwise, there are fun cookbooks out there that emphasize healthy eating that could work well.
Refueling Products
If your person is pretty active, I highly recommend refueling products (such as energy chews or gels) or recovery products (such as protein powder or electrolyte mixes).
Tea
Most people seem to like tea, and considering the flavor and blend options are endless, this would be such an easy addition to your DIY sample box! If you’re gifting loose tea, you could add a unique tea steeper as well.
Other Fitness Gear
I’d recommend wandering an athletic store for other fitness-related randomness. You could do running socks, a foam roller, a yoga mat, headbands (I personally love BIC Bands), or whatever else you can find.
…And those are just some things I can think of at the moment.
You can do a mixture of goods that add up to be around the dollar amount you’re comfortable with spending. Some may be more expensive, while others can be chilling in the dollar section at Target. It all comes down to what the person’s interests are.
Best of luck to you as you assemble your DIY Sample Box!
What are some health-related items you’d like to get in a sample box?
Is anyone participating in any holiday festivities over the weekend? I actually have a Christmas party for my work tonight, and I made the ornament below for an ornament contest happening. It’s a “San Diego Snowman”…because it’s melted…get it? I found the idea on Pinterest awhile back, and it seemed appropriate.

You’re cheesy and hilarious. I like it. Also, what do you do with hemp seeds?
Katie says
I put them in granola bars and also threw them in oatmeal. I think I’ve heard of people throwing them in pasta too? It’s whatever your heart desires!
Pam says
I would love this gift. I love trying new things and I definitely need some motivation to get my healthy back on. Great idea.
Katie says
Thanks! Glad you like the idea. 🙂 Seemed like an easy gift to throw together if there isn’t one particular thing someone wants.
