Hello and Happy President’s Day!
Before I say anything else, I just want to mention that I’ve apparently had 650 views today from people searching for “york peppermint patty” in search engines, which is more views than I’ve ever had one given day. I’m really confused about this yet very okay with it. The only time I can ever remember of mentioning the AMAZING candy was for my Halloween Favorites post.
I mean…what the bloody hell? (Speaking of bloody hell, we watched 2 Harry Potter movies last night. It was brilliant.)
Okay so anyways…
If you’re one of the lucky ones like Matt, you have the day off today. In other words, we’ve been partying hardy all morning.
By party hardy, I mean we went for a run, ran some errands, and are now eating mac ‘n’ cheese for lunch.
Workout
Around 7:30 this morning, we headed out to a lake that has a 5-mile loop around it. Matt was doing a timed run to practice for a race he has coming up, while I did my own thing quite a ways behind him. HOWEVER, I did run the 5 miles at an average pace of 8:30. I’m MORE than okay with that. Haven’t seen that low of a pace in quite awhile.
I was all decked out in my neon apparel. If you look closely, you can see my bright orange running socks. “The colors, Duke, the colors!” (Anyone remember that popsicle commercial from the 90’s? My sister and I randomly quote it for some weird reason.)
Okay, now I’m going to tell you about my weekend because we did exciting things, and you might end up caring.
First up?
We finally played the beautiful board game Life that I mentioned I bought for $2 at a garage sale. It was actually pretty fun with only 2 people. Matt ended up winning by $10,000. If you know anything about The Game of Life, then you know that’s barely anything. ‘Twas tragic. We’re still fighting because of it. But not really.
And now I present to you our Saturday’s activities:
Rock climbing!
The only pictures we have are from what the real climbers call “bouldering”—when you free-climb shorter walls with lots of padding below. I enjoyed this more because I didn’t hit panic mode because of the height, which kept happening on the real rock climbing walls. Apparently I’m much more scared of heights than I thought. Not. Cool.
We spent the first half of Saturday at the indoor rock climbing place, and our forearms were on fire from gripping the rocks. I mean [day-um]. I was quite partial to my chalk pouch, and somehow it ended up all over me. Fear of heights = sweaty hands for this girl. TMI? It happens.
Afterwards, we headed to the Green Flash Brewery. (I failed and forgot to take pictures.)

This was the first brewery I had ever been too, so I thought it was pretty cool. We had just missed the tour when we got there, so that was sad. It was still fun to go there and hang out though, especially since San Diego is such a huge craft beer area, and I see Green Flash beer everywhere.
Have you ever been rock climbing?
I went when I was like 12 at summer camp but haven’t done it since. I don’t remember it being so scary. Perhaps I’m just a big wimp now…
Are you a beer lover or hater?
I used to be a hardcore hater, but now I love trying new brews!
I like some beers, but not many. I did enjoy a local Crooked Fence Porter on Saturday. It was surprisingly good.
Oo nice!
Look at you, so sporty! Glad to know the game of Life is fun with only 2 people…John and I haven’t even opened the one from our wedding, so I feel like we should do that now. And I really wanna go “rock climbing” now. – meaning climb a wall, not real rock climbing in the wild!
Ya, I don’t think I could rock climb for reals. I was already super freaked out in a controlled indoor environment. And you should throw a board game party. The Game of Life would get cray cray with several people, I bet.
I love your sarcasm and wit
I also really like your version are party hardy. My kinda party right there!
I love touring breweries. That’s too bad you missed the actual tour. It’s quite interesting. My husband is a huge beer fan. I used to not be into it at all, but I have my favorites now too.
Ya, we’re pretty much party animals over here.
I love rock climbing! I would say your day was a total success
Especially the mac and cheese for lunch!
Yep! You can never go wrong with a little Kraft mac ‘n’ cheese.
