My Favorite CHRISTMAS Things: Part 1

December 19, 2012 by Katie

Today, I am on a mission—a mission to not eat my bodyweight in chocolate, Cheerios, and cheese. That’s kind of how my day went yesterday.

You see, my friends, I have this issue with snacking. So today I’ve been working on my self control. One big problem I have is eating lunch over the course of like 4 hours—it never really stops. So, today I made a legit lunch that consisted of a messy, open-faced turkey, bacon, spinach, pepperjack cheese, and avocado sandwich with an apple on the side. Mmmm.

Turkey, Avacado, Bacon, Pepperjack, Spinach Sandwich

(I made my first turkey on Monday because my dad had one in the freezer he wanted to get rid of. It was good (and covered in a pound of bacon) but not really worth talking much about it.)

Workout

Before lunch I got in a 13-mile run, which made me very happy to complete considering how last week’s long run went. The only problem with today’s run is I forgot I was planning to do 13. So, I sprinted the end of my 12th mile, realizing once I had finished that I needed to do 1 more mile. Needless to say, that last mile was a bit slower. Overall, had an average of a 9:08 pace. I’ll happily take it.

Yesterday, I didn’t stretch—not even for 10 seconds. I felt like I was going to die and go to fitness hell because I always fear what will happen if I don’t stretch. Turns out I survived. My legs were just a little extra tight. I made up for it today by getting in a good post-run stretching.

And now to the whole point of this post…

These Are a Few of My Favorite Things

There’s just too much that I love about Christmas to fit it into one post . Therefore, I am starting a week early.

Christmas Lights Ditto. Simple yet effective.

Christmas Lights Reply

Food Presentation Guacamole Grinch. This looks disgusting and wonderful all at the same time.

Animated Fun Elf Yourself. These things crack me up. You upload pictures and plug people’s faces into the elf heads to make a surprisingly funny video. I made a Hip Hop video of my family + Matt, and my sister has become the leader for some awesome reason. There’s also 80’s, Charleston, Disco, and a few others.

Holiday Scent Scented Pine Cones. Love scented pine cones and now I know how to make them myself! They really fill up the room with a nice holiday scent.

Décor Ornaments Hung from the Window. A friend did this last year, and I thought it was so clever. If you do it right, it can look pretty classy and awesome. Plus, it’s a very affordable way to dress up any room!

VERY SERIOUS QUESTION: What’s your favorite kind of cheese?

It always changes for me. As of this exact moment, I’d say… #1 is Pepperjack, #2 is Feta #3 is Goat, maybe? #4 Gouda, probably #5 …okay, I cannot rank my favorite cheeses. It is so difficult because I love them all.

What are some of your favorite Christmas things?

Awesome run! I could talk about cheese for hours. I love cheese. My favorite is probably feta. There is nothing like a good Greek Salad loaded with feta. I’m smiling just thinking about it. And wondering if I have feta in the fridge.

Haha awesome. I’m glad to see someone else loves cheese as much as I do.

[…] I’m sorry. I can’t let go of the holidays yet. Apparently 2 different Christmas favorite posts (part 1 & part 2) were not enough, and I must throw some favorites in this one as well. I love this […]
