My Favorite THANKSGIVING Things: Part 1

November 21, 2012 by Katie

Are you participating in the busiest travel day of the year?! I sure am. Thankfully, I don’t have to do the driving though. My father and I will be going on a mini road trip down the grandparents’ houses, and I’m pretty excited to see some family! Yay for the holiday season!

Ever since I woke up, it has been extremely foggy outside, so I’ve been fighting the urge to be bitter about it. I woke up extra early to go for my 2-hour long run today, and I couldn’t even go!

This is what I’ve been looking at all morning.

So, I started running on the treadmill with a long run in mind, but I should have known that wouldn’t happen. I ended up just running 4 miles because the treadmill boredom was getting to me. After the run I ended up doing my dumbbell workout once through, which is probably my favorite workout I’ve created.

Now I get to go pack for the journey that lies ahead today. Hope you all have a swell Thanksgiving tomorrow! Here’s a list of some of my favorite Thanksgiving things to check out:

Now, don’t be fooled by all the Christmas music and products everywhere in the stores these days—it’s time for Thanksgiving! Here are some of my favorite things that relate to the lovely holiday of thanks:

Side Celery Stuffing. This recipe is really similar to my grandma’s, and I absolutely love it. Instead of stuffing absorbing the fat from inside the turkey, this recipe is baked separately. I guess you could call it a healthier option? Sure.

Pie Flavor Blueberry Pie. I like pumpkin pie, but I’m sorry—it’s definitely not my favorite. Even with Thanksgiving pushing pumpkin on me, I will always prefer blueberry. I also enjoy pecan pie though, and that’s a bit more Thanksgiving-y.

Educational Video William Shatner’s Eat, Fry, Love—A Turkey Friar Cautionary Tale. This is from a few years ago, but it’s pretty entertaining. If you’re going to fry a turkey this Thanksgiving, learn from William Shatner as to what not to do…

Sugary Goodness Cranberry Sauce. This recipe is by The Pioneer Woman and looks quite easy to make. All you need is cranberries, maple syrup, cranberry juice, and lemon juice. Unless you’re like my boyfriend and love eating cranberry sauce straight out of the can, this is a great alternative to the processed variety.

Quote Thankful people are happy. So let’s all be thankful so we can be happy!

Craft Oreo Turkeys. Hey, look! It’s a way you can use some leftover Halloween candy! I think this looks delicious cute. When my sis has some babies and/or when I have children, I’m going to be doing crafts like a crazy person. They’re just so much fun.

Fruit Pomegranates. I realize yesterday’s post was all about pomegranates, but I’m just reminding you of how I love them. I’d say they’re kind of Thanksgiving-y, but they’re just an overall holiday season type of fruit, I suppose. Today, I’m calling them a Thanksgiving fruit.

What are you doing for Thanksgiving?

What’s your favorite part?

I enjoyed the pom post. John actually asked if we could buy one the other day and hopefully we’ll cut it open and eat it today! There is hope!

NICE!!! Well, if you don’t get one, there are 2 here, and I could open one up for Saturday when you’re home.

[…] I didn’t do my long run on Wednesday, I’m hoping to do  it today. It’s apparently supposed to be like 30 degrees all day […]
