I Donated My Hair

November 5, 2012 by Katie

I’ve been looking forward to this past weekend for-EV-ER. You don’t even understand. I enjoyed having really long hair, but it was such a pain. My life just became 10,000 times easier.

After having 8” cut off to donate, I decided to take it a step further and get some bangs. Not quite sure how I feel about them yet. Here are some before and after pics so you get an idea of just what went down on Saturday morning.

Haircut Before and After

Speaking of the 8” of hair I need to mail to Locks of Love, I have no idea where it even is. My wonderful sister went with me for some moral support and a trim for her own hair, and I’m just going to blame her for it being missing…because I can.  Okay, so I haven’t looked too hard yet, but I’m still confused about the situation.

Having short hair is friggin awesome so far though. Running and washing it are my favorite parts so far. My life has become so much simpler. Speaking of awesome…

Workout

I ran 8 miles this morning at 1:11, and it was pretty great. It was 40 degrees out and overcast, which made for a cold start, but I was very warmed up by the end. I’m not usually into running in that cold of weather, but it ended up being very refreshing after awhile. The last 3 miles or so felt wonderful.

The upcoming winter weather, however, I am really dreading. How on earth do people train for a marathon when it’s below 0 and snowy/icy out? Guess I’ll learn to cope—let’s hope.

Arms & Core Circuit

Since I try not to work my legs before my long runs, I’ve been trying to come up with a good arms and/or core workout to do. Last week I came up with one that I liked a lot. It only takes 10 minutes but is quite tiring after awhile. You could always repeat more than once if you’re feeling ambitious.

Arms and Core Circuit

I added Downward Dog Pushups to the Exercise Page, if you need a bit of guidance on how to do any exercises.

Hope you’re all having a fantastic Monday so far!!

Have you ever donated your hair?

I donated my hair at the end of high school and now I’m doing it again about 5 years later!

What is your favorite body part to workout?

My favorite is probably arm exercises (not the biggest fan of pushups though).

I like this blog a lot! Congrats on the new haircut! It looks wonderful. Knowin you helps me when I read your post because I literally could hear your voice as I read. Lol. Oh Katie how I miss thee! That’s awesome how much your discovering health fixes. I’ll most likely be checking in from time to time when I’m not studying. You would think I would be running and lifting more as a PT student… Where does the time go?!?

Thanks, Laura! I miss you tooooo. And I’m sure you’re busy getting super educated. Running will be there when you have the time. I just have way too much time…so I run.

My favorite body part to workout is also my arms… & I’m with you on the push-up dislike. 😉

Thanks! My hair has grown out quite a bit since this post–not sure how I feel about the bangs. It’s always fun to try something new though!
