These Are a Few of My Favorite Things

October 24, 2012 by Katie

Today’s Run: 14 miles/2:13 …AKA, farther than I have ever run before!

I think I have found the secret to finishing a super long run: zoning out. Okay, not completely zoning out because that’s just dangerous and stupid. When my mind is clear, I tend to focus way too much on how tired and am. Today, I practiced the art of getting lost in my thoughts. It really helps. I already knew this helped pass the time, but today I actively tried to stop thinking about how I felt or my pace.

Every time I found myself back to thinking about being tired, I tried to plan what I was doing today. Thanks to my distracted and all-over-the-place mind, that day planning method led me to thinking about other things, which led me to forgetting about how I had been running for 2 hours…It worked quite well.

See below for all of my favorites from the past week!

Unique Dessert Strawberries in roasted marshmallow fluff. I thought this was clever. Dip a strawberry in marshmallow fluff and roast over the campfire! Sounds deeeeeelish. If it had some chocolate drizzled on it, I’d be in heaven.

Goal Love in German. It’s true though.

Non-Chocolate Dessert Low-Fat Lemon Yogurt Cake. I’m usually all about the chocolate desserts, but lemony goodness is always a nice change of pace. This recipe sounds quite delicioso and “healthy” with the yogurt.

Truth Let cool. Never.

Reality Show Giuliana and Bill. I’m a girl—I like my trashy reality television. I don’t really consider this trashy though. Giuliana’s a classy lady, is extremely entertaining, and is an inspiration when it  comes to her battle with breast cancer. I love their show, and they seem to be an amazing couple.

Motivation The decision to try. Never be afraid to try.

Holiday Decoration Melted Snowman Ornament. It’s salt, peppercorns and an orange paper cone. I love this because when I’m in California in the winter, there are always snowman and snow decorations everywhere, yet it’s in the 60s and 70s outside. I find it funny because a lot of those people have probably never even seen snow. This ornament is quite appropriate.

Song Madness by Muse. I love when this comes on the radio because Muse is so different than the usual music. ‘Tis a nice change of pace.

Do you have a guilty pleasure show?

What song have you been loving this week?
